Reading the Raise in Online Poker

The fact that you cannot see your opponents when playing in an online Poker game have led people to believe that it is more difficult to know if your opponent will raise. However, the truth is that you need only look at different aspects of the game to know.

The key thing to remember when playing in online Poker is the in turn button, a function that allows players to make their moves quickly. When this function is used by a player, you will notice it immediately, and this is one of the ways that you can determine when a player is raising and what it means.

If player A makes a call and almost simultaneously player B makes a raise, then player B had the in turn button on. What does this mean? Quite simply that that Poker player is eager to raise and be part of the action. That can mean that he is holding a big hand.

It could also mean the opposite; an online Poker player who is holding a marginal hand will make an auto raise to give the impression that the hand is strong when it is not. Some players will use reverse psychology; they will turn on the auto raise with a big hand, because they know that the other players will think that they are bluffing.

Obviously, when a player uses the in turn button in Poker, it could mean a whole lot of things. The way to figure it out is much the same you would in a live casino Poker game. That is, by observing the bets and calls of your opponents. Keep in mind that players play cards in similar ways. This will allow you to know what kind of hands they raise with.
